Consider joining us for one of our favorite Community of Hope traditions: our annual Bible and Bike.   We will be riding 185 miles through one of America’s best bike trails, The C&O Towpath Trail., which begins in Cumberland, Maryland and leads us right into the heart of Washington, DC. Our Bible time will consist of personal prayer and Bible reading in the morning along with group discussion later in the day. 

Basic Info: 

Who CAN GO?

Anyone 14 years or older who can ride a bike around 40 miles a day. 

When IS THE TRIP?

We will depart early morning on Thursday, June 27 and return in the afternoon Tuesday, July 2.

WHAT IS THE ITINERARY?

Day 1: (Thursday, June 27) Meet early at COH, load gear, then caravan down to Cumberland, MD. Ride 45 miles to Little Orleans, and camp for the night.

Day 2: (Friday, June 28) Ride 41 miles to Williamsport and stay in a Red Roof Inn for the night.

Day 3: (Saturday, June 29) Ride 40 miles to Harpers Ferry and stay at the Towns Inn Hostel in Harper’s Ferry, VA.

Day 4: (Sunday, June 30) Ride 44 miles to Swain’s Lock and camp for the night.

Day 5: (Monday, July 1) Ride 17 miles into the heart of Washington D.C., explore a few sites, then take a train back to Cumberland and stay in a hotel for the night.

Day 6: (Tuesday July 2) Drive home.

HOW MUCH WILL IT Cost: 

The cost for this trip is dependent on how many riders we have. Below are estimated costs based how many riders we have. These costs include lodging each night, all transportation, and one group meal per day. Additional meals are not included in the trip cost.

*If we have 8 riders: The approximate cost for a rider willing to share a room with three roommates is $265. The approximate cost for this trip for a rider willing to share a room with one roommate is $316. The approximate cost for this trip for a rider who would like to stay in their own hotel rooms is $517.

*If we have 12 riders: The approximate cost for a rider willing to share a room with three roommates is $222. The approximate cost for this trip for a rider willing to share a room with one roommate is $270. The approximate cost for this trip for a rider who would like to stay in their own hotel rooms is $475.

As you can see, the more riders we have, the lower the trip costs will be. We will not raise costs above the eight rider estimates even if we have fewer riders, so it is safe to assume those costs for your planning, and they will likely be reduced. We will update riders when we have our final registration and will let you know final costs accordingly.

What about Food? 

We will provide one group meal per day. Riders are encouraged to bring their own breakfasts and snack food to eat on the ride. All other meals will be eaten at restaurants along our route. Each rider is responsible for the cost of daily meals out. We will give you more info. and snack ideas at the pre-departure meeting.
