Come adventure! From Monday, August 12 - Thursday, August 15, we are taking a group from Community of Hope backcountry hiking the Roan Highlands - a beautiful stretch of the Appalachian Trail on the border of North Carolina and Virginia. We take backpacking trips because they're such an awesome way to get away from our normal routines, enjoy God's creation, stretch physical and mental limits, bond with one another community, and grow in our faith.

This year's hike is a moderate, 3-day, 20 mile hike, with two full days spent on the trail. You should expect long days, sore legs, incredible views, and lots of fun. When we're done hiking, we'll end our trip with a hotel night, (real showers and beds!), team bonding, and one last outdoor adventure on Thursday before driving home.

Basic Info:

This trip is open to anyone ages 14+ The limit for groups hiking the AT is 10 people, so register now to secure your spot. You don't need to be an experienced outdoor enthusiast to go. All you need is a good attitude and desire to grow personally.

Monday, August 12 - Thursday, August 15

Monday 8/12: We’ll meet in the morning at Community of Hope, do a final gear check, then drive down to our starting point at Carver’s Gap, NC. We’ll hike as a group to the Roan High Knob Shelter, make camp, have a group dinner, and head to bed.

Tuesday 8/13: We will have breakfast and personal devotions, break down camp, then spend the day hiking about 8 miles to the Overmountain Shelter, where we’ll enjoy a group dinner, Bible study and campfire (weather providing!) and head to bed.

Wednesday 8/14: We’ll have breakfast and personal devotions, break down camp, then spend the day hiking 9 miles from Overmountain Shelter to our car. We’ll head to our hotel, have dinner and team time, and enjoy sleeping in real beds.

Thursday 8/15: We’ll have breakfast and personal devotions, then spend the morning on an outdoor adventure before heading back to Community of Hope, arriving in the late evening.

The cost of this trip is $115, which includes all transportation costs, camping permit fees, all meals, and a one-night stay at our hotel with hotel breakfast included. Checks can be made out to Community of Hope.
