What are some of the different ways to serve at Community of Hope?
Children’s Ministry
In Matthew 19, Jesus says “let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.” We value children! Do you love kids and desire to help foster in them a love for Jesus? Those interested in serving will begin the process with an interview with the pastor and time to come alongside those currently serving to gain experience. They will also complete a background check and be observed teaching lessons before being asked to serve in a leadership role. Our nursery caregivers serve in pairs once a month at one of the Sunday services. Our teachers serve once a month at the Saturday service or at both Sunday services.
Communion Setup and Clean-up
We value sharing the Lord’s Supper on a regular basis as a means of experiencing afresh and anew the gift of forgiveness. Members of the communion team serve in various ways, including preparing the bread and wine, assisting with distribution, ushering, and cleaning up. Members serve no more than once a month.
Special Event Support
We value connecting with each other in church and outside of church. Several times a year we plan events designed to allow those curious about our church a chance to see who we are and what we are about in a relaxed environment. If you are a party planner, a behind-the-scenes person, or an adventurer, then we have a place for you! Join us in supporting one or more of the following events:
Annual Church Picnic (summer)
Easter Egg Hunt (spring)
Bible & Bike Trip (early fall)
Bible & Hike Trip (summer)
Vacation Bible School (summer)
Trunk or Treat (fall)
Women of Hope events (4 events throughout the year)
Greeting and Connection Center Greeting
Do you remember being a first-time visitor? We value people new to our church and want to make sure they feel welcomed and connected. Sometimes, they just need someone to answer a question, connect them with the pastor or a nursery caregiver, or help them find the right classroom for their child.
If you enjoy lending a hand and welcoming people, we need you! Greeters arrive 15 minutes before the service so they are available to direct others as they arrive and are also available during the mid-service break.
Hospitality Team
We value community—the sharing of our everyday lives with one another. We enjoy connecting with each other over a slice of pizza on Saturday evenings or a cup of coffee and a pastry on Sunday mornings. Join us in welcoming people by serving once a month as part of the hospitality team, either at the Saturday service or Sunday service. The Saturday hospitality team serves coffee and pizza. Members of the Sunday hospitality team typically either set up coffee and pastries before the 9 am service or clean up after the 10:45 am service.
Meal Train Ministries
We value people in our church community and our neighborhoods. Currently, we have a Meal Train ministry for people going through transitions, such as welcoming a new baby or grieving a loved one. This ministry helps to identify their needs and share them with those who can help.
Prayer Team
At Community of Hope, we value prayer as a vital way that we as believers connect with God and one another. We lift up each other’s cares and concerns and come to the Lord with the needs of our community and the world as a whole. Prayer team members share our community prayers with the congregation in one of our three services once a month.
Scripture Reading Volunteers
We value the Word of God and we enjoy sharing God’s Word together in our church services. Volunteers will read Scripture verses chosen for the sermon that weekend during one of our three services.
Tech Team
We value worship and creating space for each person in our community to connect with the living God. Our tech team works behind the scenes to help make that possible. Team members adjust the sound, display lyrics during the service, and manage the audio and video for our livestream. If you enjoy working with computers, sound, or video—or would have fun learning how it all works—we'd love to have you join us! All team members are trained, and no previous experience is required. Tech team members serve once a month.
